CMB’s Property Digest out to deepen information on real estate

In addition to its contribution to the real estate sector of the Nigerian economy, CMB Building Maintenance and Investment Company Limited has unveiled the maiden edition of its property magazine known as Property Digest.

Perhaps, the question that readily comes to mind on the emergence of a new property magazine in a seemingly saturated market is ‘what new knowledge or information has the publication to offer the reader?’ But with Property Digest, such a question is not only misplaced, but also unnecessary because the publisher is out to transform knowledge of, and deepen information on the real estate industry, particularly in Nigeria where the industry now stands out as an investment destination.

As a company with primary focus on estates, CMB after almost two decades of operations in this field has garnered sufficient experience and harbours requisite knowledge to share on real estate, hence the publication. It believes that unlike what obtains in advanced economies, the poor perception of, and low investment in real estate in Nigeria stem from insufficient information available to the public and potential investors.

“This journal is aimed at informing the general public of the happenings within the property industry; offer an insight into major stakeholders’ opinion on the industry as well as provide a roadmap into investing in real estate in the future,” the company discloses, at the launching of the magazine in Lagos recently.

Kelechukwu Mbagwu, CMB’s managing director, tells journalists at the event that “Property Digest is not just another magazine on the newsstand,” explaining that they were not out to compete with existing publications. “This is not a pretentious publication; it is rather a one-stop shop for information on property prices, and inputs of experts; it will provide ideas on real estate finance; it will be talking about government and their role in real estate, and also about the seller, the buyer and the agent,” the managing director discloses.

He assures that every aspect of real estate will be clearly explained in this publication in order to make real estate buyers and investors take proper decision on what to do with their money, adding that the company will do all it can to ensure that both interest and market for the magazine, which will be published quarterly, will be sustained through the quality of each edition.

“Each new edition will surpass the previous one in terms of content and quality. We are not going to be a high-sounding publication like the ones already in the market. We are going to be on the average, serving every segment of the society. We will be talking about the face-me-I-face-you kind of accommodation and also about landlords and their demand for advance house rent,” he says.

Property Digest, produced in gloss papers and prints, is indeed, a compendium of information on vital aspects of real estate and, according to John Godwin, the principal, Godwin, Hopwood, Kuye Architects (GHK Architects) who reviewed the book, “what CMB is bringing to the readers are not only examples of their own developments but those of others whom they think meet the criteria for excellence and sustainability.”

The magazine provides insight into the Nigerian real estate industry; real estate investment; the construction industry with special focus on Lekki Concession Company project; real estate developments on Lagos Island; safety, health and environment, building materials; building technology; architectural trends, Lagos-Badagry Expressway reconstruction, among other interesting topics.
