Remsenburg estate weathered the storm

A 1920 bayfront Remsenburg estate, which is on the market for $5.999 million, survived the Hurricane of 1938. But that's not to say it wasn't damaged. It was rebuilt and has since been enhanced.

"It's really a grand old new house," says Enzo Morabito of Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate, who, with Aimee Martin, is marketing the home.

Overlooking Moriches Bay, the three-story house features original sleeping porches as well as four full bathrooms and six bedrooms, including the master, where a picture window faces the water.

Set on three acres with a tree-lined entry, the property has more than 200 feet on the bay. Amenities include a heated gunite pool and a pool house.

HEAT IS COOL Whatever the weather, the buyer of one custom postmodern home in Lloyd Harbor will be able to take a dip in comfort.

The five-bedroom house, which is listed for $1.825 million, features an indoor heated pavilion with a heated gunite pool and attached spa.

"It's summer all year round in the pool pavilion, which has eight skylights in a cedar, vaulted ceiling and is surrounded by glass doors that open to the patio," says listing agent Elena D'Agostino of Signature Premier Properties.

This is a bromine pool, so there's no chlorine smell in the house, she adds.

The home, which is on 2.06 acres, has a finished basement with a gym, a theater and a wine room.
